It has been a bumpy start to the new roaring 20s, with most people keen to bid the year farewell. There will be loads of places in Geraldton to ring in the new year. Here’s hoping that the next year will bring more flapper dresses and fewer face masks.

New Year’s Eve Boat Party, Abrolhos Island Adventures, $33 pp

Finishing at 10 pm, the boat party is not trying to compete with the big count down events. The venue have positioned themself as a great place to start the evening, with front row seats to the sun setting over the Beresford Foreshore. Tickets to the night include a bus service that will drop patrons off at the Geraldton Hotel, The Freemasons and the Wintersun Hotel.

Cocktails and Canapés, the Murchison Tavern, $84 pp

For two hours, the Murch will be stirring and shaking all you can drink cocktails for $84 per head. They will also serve canapés to soak up the sugar and champagne will be handed out on arrival. Even better, customers can choose which two hours to down their cocktails.

80s Disco NYE, The Freemasons Hotel, SOLD OUT

The Freemasons have limited space and have already sold out their free tickets for NYE. If you managed to secure one, expect to travel back to the 80s. Before Zoom, gin distilleries making hand sanitiser and Tiktok were even on our radars.

NYE Winterrock Style, The Wintersun Hotel, free entry

If, after a year of cancelled gigs, you want live music to whisk you into the New Year, look to further than the Wintersun. Gero pub circuit usual suspects Solitary Sounds, Pub Fiction and Loose Change will make appearances. Plus, it is the only non-ticked event in town — perfect if you are pinching pennies or just disorganised.

New Years Eve Party, The Gerald, $127 pp

Only a couple of months after opening their brand new ground-floor bar, The Gerald is holding a New Year bar hop around their venue. The ticketed event will start with cocktails, tapas and the sunset at their Old Man and the Sea rooftop bar, followed by nibblies and bubblies downstairs at Bob’s Boutique Bar.

Jukebox NYE, The Geraldton Hotel, $20 pp

Triple M Geraldton will host New Year's Eve at the Geraldton Hotel. As always, The Gero are claiming it will be the biggest party in town, set the soundtrack of the 50s, 60s and 70s.

Pubs that will be closed: The Provincial, Cutler and Smith.
