Winning pair Kenyluck and jockey Rosie Mahoney to reunite for Ladies Day at Geraldton Turf Club
Allan Hughes knows the Geraldton Turf Club better than most, and the local trainer said he was looking forward to the colour and spectacle of Ladies Day this Sunday.
Hughes, whose horse Kenyluck is running on the day, said he’d be taking the chance for a quiet drink or two and getting around to meet and greet between races.
“It’s a really nice day out,” Hughes said.
“The ladies get all done up and the blokes, too. I don’t mind going around having a quiet beer.
“I meet a few people and it’s quite good.
“It’s a really good day for the races, it’s a very social day.
“Kenyluck is in the 70+ handicap, he’s going all right.
“We’ve drawn the outside so we’ve just got to hope everything goes our way.”
Kenyluck, the reigning two-time horse of the year at the turf club, will be running in race five, the $20,000, 1200m TabTouch Bet Local Handicap.
Jockey Rosie Mahoney will be back aboard Kenyluck, after the pair won last Wednesday in Kenyluck’s first start since last season.
Mahoney piloted him across the line in a photo finish ahead of Natasha Faithfull on Human Nature in race three, the Iron Jack Handicap.
Hughes said the horse pulled up well after that run. Mahoney will also be aboard Colour Me Quick for Hughes in race three, the $17,000, 1100m Tabtouch NFL Same Game Multi Handicap maiden.
