Young Geraldton boxers perform strongly at Australian Club Championships in Adelaide

Two up-and-coming boxers have earned praise from their coach for their strong performances after competing in the Australian Club Championships in Adelaide earlier this month. Kyson Crudeli, 15, and Anthony Little, 14, competed against boxers from across the nation, with the Geraldton duo participating in three and two fights respectively. Kyson lost his first two bouts, but was victorious in his third, while Anthony won his second fight during the event, which ran from May 17-19. Both fighters train at Geraldton’s Peacocks Boxing Gym, and head coach Jake Peacock said he had been impressed by their efforts. “All three of Kyson’s fights were against really good quality, national-level opposition, and what impressed me the most about his last win was the guy that he beat gave him a flogging last year,” he said. “That showed how much improvement he’s made in the past 12 months. “Anthony lost his first one by a close decision, some people thought he’d won it but we took it on the chin and got him another bout. “He ended up destroying the guy in the third round, so it was awesome to finish the trip on a high for both fighters.” In their efforts to get better, both competitors hit the gym four to five times a week, while also committing to running sessions and maintaining diets. Peacock said he was proud of the efforts his fighters were putting in to get better. “Kyson has been fighting for two and a half years now, and has higher aspirations and am proud that I’m able to help him on that journey. He will go further than what he is now,” he said. “Anthony Little, if that guy sticks at it, the world’s his oyster. “It’s what every coach hopes for, finding young talent that’s willing to put in the work.” Peacock said Kyson had aspirations to compete for the State team at the 2024 Australian Schools Boxing Championships in July.
