‘Leaders in the field’ 100 years of Caterpillar tractors celebrated at Brunswick’s Lights on the Hill

Crowds gathered on a hillside field at the weekend to listen to the roar of diesel engines and watch decades old tractors pull through the mud.
The Vintage Tractor and Machinery Association of WA hosted its annual Lights on the Hill showcase on Saturday setting up just outside Brunswick.
This year’s event was a special celebration of 100 years of Caterpillar tractors, showcasing a variety of the machines which have worked the fields over the past century.
Trachmach State president John Piavanini said it was one of several events to celebrate Caterpillar tractors likely taking place across the State this year.
“Caterpillar is the biggest in the world in big machinery at the moment, there’s a lot of brands catching up, but they’re were probably the leaders in the field,” he said.
The day saw people travelling thousands of kilometres to be in Brunswick, with some enthusiasts coming from the Wheatbelt and beyond to display their vintage machinery.
