‘Very devastating’: Man and woman found dead in Sydney’s Buzzy Bee’s Burger House named
The bodies of a man and woman have been discovered in Sydney’s west, with police describing the scene as “very devastating”.
Officers attended the Oxford St strip of shops in Cambridge Park about 9.40am on Saturday, locating the bodies of a man and a woman in their 60s.
It’s understood the couple were the operators of Buzzy Bee’s Burger House, a family-run local take-away shop.
They have been identified as Hoa Tek Cien, 69, and Heang Kim Gau, 68, The Daily Telegraph reports.
Investigators remained at the scene on Saturday afternoon, with the area cordoned off by police tape as several people were seen in tears nearby.
Detective Acting Superintendent Michael Cantrell told media on Saturday afternoon the two bodies were discovered by a family member who called emergency services.
“Police responded and located two persons deceased with significant injures,” he said.
“The family are obviously devastated and they are assisting police.
“I’m appealing for any witnesses in the Oxford St Cambridge Park area at the time earlier this morning or last night.”
He said the police investigation remains in its early stages and “every motive” was being considered.
Superintendent Cantrell described the scene as “confronting” but said police do not have any intelligence to suggest a further threat to the community.
“It’s very devastating... the investigation is in its infancy there are many lines of enquiry — we do not have any targets at this point,” he said.
The officer said he was aware of footage on social media depicting a person in the vicinity but said police were yet to establish if the individual was connected to the incident.
“I’m not going to speculate,” he said.
“We encourage people with any other footage to come forward.”
Local resident James Savic said news of the couple’s death was shocking, describing them as “just really lovely people”.
“I only live a few streets away so I go in there all the time; they’re very polite, very nice,” he said.
“What is this world coming to? I really hope they work out what happened.”
Mr Savic said he’d overheard a police helicopter hovering overhead for more than an hour on Saturday morning.
“I’ve been living here five years... It’s mainly filled with a lot of elderly people, you’d never think anything like this would happen,” he said.
A crime scene has been established as an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident was launched.
No arrests have been made and no charges laid.
Local residents have taken to social media to express their shock at the loss of two community stalwarts, with one say the couple were planning to retire soon.
“l pray the people who stabbed them come to justice very quickly! Their sons are in shock and so devastated right now,” one woman wrote.
Another said; “Cambo won’t be the same without them 2 been going there for 20 years.”
Police have called on anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
