Queen, David Bowie and Coldplay tribute shows to headline city’s concert series

Queen, David Bowie and Coldplay fans will be thrilled to hear of next year’s Sunset Concert Series line-up.

The much-loved free event series is hosted by the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder and will return with three nights of tribute performances and local talent at Centennial Park.

On Australia Day, Thomas Crane will light up the stage with an electrifying tribute to two of rock and roll’s most iconic figures — Freddie Mercury and David Bowie.

Crane’s performance will relive some of Queen’s greatest hits, from their glam rock beginnings to their later anthems.

Audiences will also journey through the evolving musical landscape of David Bowie to celebrate his remarkable range of styles and personas.

The second concert, on February 8, will see some of Perth’s best musicians perform Coldplay classics such as Yellow, Fix You, Viva La Vida, Clocks and Paradise.

Iconic Aussie band The Cat Empire will perform their new material alongside crowd favourites during the final concert series instalment on February 15.

Formed in Melbourne, the alternative band has multiple platinum records to their name and more than 250 million streams.

Each event starts at 6pm, with attendees encouraged to bring their own chairs, picnics and beverages (without glass) or purchase food and refreshments from vendors.

Each concert will also include community fundraising stalls and local support acts.

The 2024 Sunset Concert Series saw ABBA tribute band Abbacadabra deliver pop and disco to Centennial Park on Australia Day.

Aussie indie rock duo Holy Holy joined the stage on February 3, before a high-energy performance from Australian rock legends Thirsty Merc on February 17.
