An entrant celebrating her 36th birthday won the first Statewide Fashions on the Field competition at Geraldton Turf Club.

Bernadette May took out first place, with Ruth Vorster and Marika Smith coming in second and third.

The competition attracted 43 women.

Entrants were judged on their outfit, accessories, hair and make-up, as well as how confident they were on the runway.

Ms May will head to Ascot Racecourse in November for the chance to win a $25,000 Racing Holiday and Spending Spree in Hong Kong.

WA Country Cups Ambassador said the Fashions on the Field was a great chance for women to dress up and enjoy a day out with friends.

“It brings the community toge-ther,” she said.

“It gets people outside and having fun.

“In country towns there’s not an awful lot to do, so it’s amazing for them to get together and dress up.”

The WACC Fashions on the Field consists of nine regional heats held at major race meetings in the State.

The final Fashions on the Field contest will be held at Ascot Racecourse on Saturday, November 26.
