The inaugural art show at Wandina Primary School was a colourful affair which attracted a large crowd recently.

The parents and citizens’ group at Geraldton’s newest school, which has students from kindergarten to Year 4, organised the display and sale of artwork to raise money to establish a nature playground.

Principal Di Miller said all 280 students from the school contributed to the show, which included silent auctions of canvas artworks created by each class, entertainment, food and bouncy castle and an auction of artwork created at the event by local artist Phil Doncon.

Ms Miller said she was pleased with how many families had attended the showcase of students’ artwork, which was created under the tuition of the school’s art specialist Carolyn Butler.

“It’s a fantastic evening. It’s really great for parents to come to the school and see the art and support their children, ” she said.
