Driver charged with drug possession

A 27-year-old Geraldton man has been charged with drug and weapon offences after a routine traffic stop near Dongara on Saturday night.

Mingenew police pulled over a Toyota Landcruiser about 8pm on Saturday along Brand Highway, Dongara.

Police searched the vehicle where a number of items of interest were allegedly found, including a taser, pepper spray, methylamphetamine, ecstasy and cannabis.

The driver was charged with three counts of possessing a prohibited drug, two counts of possessing drug paraphernalia and one count of possessing a prohibited weapon.

He was released on bail and is due to appear in Dongara Magistrate’s Court next month.
