Driver faces drug charges

A 26-year-old Armadale man is facing multiple drug charges after a routine traffic stop in Dongara.

Police stopped a Hyundai Accent hatchback travelling South on Brand Highway at 2.35pm on Wednesday, September 8.

Police say a suspicious odour was coming from the car, prompting a search of the vehicle that allegedly uncovered 22g of cannabis, two cannabis seeds and a glass smoking implement.

Police say the illicit contents were hidden in different compartments of the vehicle.

The man has been charged with possessing a prohibited drug, possessing a prohibited plant and possessing prohibited drug paraphernalia.

He is due to appear in Geraldton Magistrate’s Court at a later date.
