Fillies frock up in a fashionable field

Melbourne Cup fever hit the Mid West on Tuesday, as ladies and fellas dressed to the nines at the Geraldton Turf Club.

The ladies had an extra incentive to frock up, with the hotly-contested Fashions On the Field producing some absolute stunners.

Judges said the final decision was a close call, but the lovely Marika Smith was a stand-out in first place.

The winner was followed closely by Nerene Teakle in second and Pip Kupsch in third.
