A Frenchman charged over a fatal crash near Kalbarri this week has been bailed on a personal undertaking of $25,000 and on condition that he not leave Geraldton.

Jean-Christophe Andre Kerambloch, 44, is charged with dangerous driving causing death.

He was not required to enter a plea when he appeared before Geraldton Magistrate’s Court yesterday afternoon.

Magistrate Donna Webb adjourned the matter until August 8 for legal advice and imposed strict conditions on bail.

Through an interpreter, she told Mr Kerambloch he must surrender his international driver’s licence and passport, and that he must not apply for a passport or a replacement passport. Ms Webb also ordered that Mr Kerambloch not come within 1km of an international departure point and not drive any motor vehicle in Australia.

Mr Kerambloch must also remain in custody until a $10,000 deposit on the personal undertaking was paid, which Ms Webb expected would take at least two days.

When released on bail, Mr Kerambloch must advise police where he is staying and report to the Geraldton Police Station every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

The dangerous driving charge relates to a fatal crash on Tuesday on George Grey Drive, about 17km south of Kalbarri, involving an orange Harley-Davidson motorcycle and a white Toyota Kluger station sedan. A 52-year-old Howatharra man died in the crash.

In a statement yesterday, major crash investigators urged any witnesses who may have seen the motorcycle or the Toyota Kluger before the crash to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report the information online at www.crimestopperswa.com.

Mr Kerambloch is being represented by Ryan Arndt.
