Funny women lead way
Local female comedians will prove they can be just as funny as the boys at The Comedy Emporium’s October Showcase today.
Focusing on some of the female sensations that have crossed The Comedy Emporium stage, the showcase is part of Geraldton’s Festivals on the Foreshore.
Although comedy is typically a male-dominated area, Comedy Emporium Ringleader Julian Canny said Geraldton was bucking the trend.
“We have more ladies in comedy here than almost the entire WA industry,” he said. “The showcase is highlighting that even though we have great male performers, we have female ones that are just as good, if not better.”
Featuring stand-up, improvisation and a dash of musical performance, Mr Canny said the showcase would offer the audience something different.
“It’s going to be a bit of variety ... we’ve got to keep it spiced up a bit and it challenges us,” he said.
The 18-plus show is at Geraldton Multipurpose Centre on October 7.
