Geraldton comic wins arts funding
The Comedy Emporium founder Julian Canny has been awarded one of five regional arts fellowships.
Attorney-General and Minister of the Arts Senator George Brandis announced the recipients this morning.
Mr Canny will receive $15,000 to develop his writing skills and to research and develop links with Melbourne, Perth and New York-based performing arts organisations.
"This is going to allow my work with The Comedy Emporium to focus on really driving and taking our regional performers to the world,” he said.
“I want to see my skills develop to a point where I can help carry those other regional artists who work with me to a global audience.
"I am really lucky to receive this fellowship as it will allow me to develop and really deliver on solid outcomes that will make other people's lives less lame.”
