Geraldton Softball League: Suiside march on in season 2025 with dominant performance

Suiside continued their dominance in division 1 men’s, Martians proved too strong in the women’s competition while a fierce derby battle unfolded in men’s division 2 in a thrilling weekend of softball action.

In round 15 of men’s division 1, Suiside extended their impressive run with a commanding 9-1 victory over Rams. Liam Meharry stole the spotlight with a home run, while Cooper Jefferies smashed a double.

Jy Prosser contributed two singles, and Kael Corlett added both a single and a triple in a well-rounded offensive display.

In the other top-flight men’s match, Blaze made history with an 8-0 mercy rule victory over Martians, marking their first shutout of the season.

Jack Etherton pitched a clinical game with strong defensive support, while Declan Green and Sean Thompson worked efficiently in the infield, highlighted by Thompson’s sharp catch at first base.

Josh Thompson launched a two-run homer, and Kirk Piper and Jamie Rodenburg provided valuable RBIs to seal the dominant win.

Next week, Martians take on Suiside while Rams battle Blaze. With Suiside already securing top spot on the ladder, the fight for second place remains between Rams and Martians.

Martians’ division 1 women continued their strong form, overpowering Suiside 9-2 via the five-inning mercy rule.

Martians came out firing, scoring four runs in the opening dig and never relinquishing control. Pam Micke provided the highlight of the match with a rare over-the-fence home run, later adding a double to her tally.

Meanwhile, Pi’s Panthers edged out Marlins 10-9 . Pi’s established an early lead thanks to clutch hitting from Natalie Wisewould, Janelle Phillips, and Sandra Watts.

Despite trailing by eight runs in the fourth inning, Marlins staged a late comeback, capitalising on singles, steals and fielding errors but ultimately fell just short. Karla Amos and the Taryn Purcell duo were key contributors at the plate.

Next round Pi’s take on Rams while Marlins will look to bounce back against Martians.

The women’s competition remains fiercely contested, with Pi’s resurgence putting them in the hunt for top spot alongside Rams and Marlins.

In men’s division 2 action, Martians Red dominated the derby against Martians Black with a commanding 13-3 win. A strong batting display saw Martians Red register 12 safe hits compared to Martians Black’s four.

Murphy Reid delivered the standout moment with a grand slam home run and a double.

Elsewhere, Marlins defeated Pi’s 20-9, while Blaze secured a 7-0 win over Rams Blue.

Looking to round 16, Rams Blue take on Marlins, Rams White face Martians Black, Martians Red challenge Blaze, and Gunduwa return to action against high-flyers Suiside.

In the division 2 women’s competition Martians claimed a 19-9 victory over Batavia Blaze

Halo Colley led with two singles and three catches, while Kellie Atkinson added a single and two catches.

Rams White endured a tough round, suffering losses to Gunduwa 17-8 and Marlins 20-16, while Gunduwa also claimed another victory over Rams Blue, 12-2.

Next round, as the season gets closer to the play-offs, Rams Blue have a double-header versus Pi’s and Marlins, while Pi’s also take on Martians. Gunduwa face Blaze and Martians will meet Marlins in their second game of the round.
