Geraldton’s water polo season splashes back into action as Demons showcase dominance in women’s A-grade
Geraldton’s 2025 water polo season made a splash when it resumed last weekend, with Demons showcasing their dominance in women’s A-grade.
On Saturday, Demons secured a commanding 16-5 victory over Rats as all clubs dived back into action for round 11.
Demons’ offensive prowess was on full display, as Karly Collett, Maggie Spiers and Zoe Sellars delivered stand-out performances.
Abbie MacDonald continued to show her best form, marshalling the team into constant attacks. Despite numerous scoring opportunities, Rats were repeatedly denied by the impressive goalkeeping of Mel Bennett.
Rats also displayed some good defensive skills, with stand in keeper Gabby McCrory showing some great athletic ability in the Rats goal.
The upcoming round promises excitement as the top two teams, B52’s and Demons, clash, while Rats will face off against the composite side.
In men’s A-grade, B52’s continued their reign, overpowering Demons 14-7. Although Demons had an early lead, B52’s depth and strategic substitutions turned the tide.
Ben Naisbitt led the charge for the winners, with Jimmy Horsman and Kurt Tunbridge maintaining their stellar season form. B52’s look unlikely to be denied first place on the ladder at the end of the season, although Demons will no doubt keep pushing them to the final round.
Next weekend, B52’s will go up against Rats, while Demons will rest against the composite team.
In women’s B-grade, Serpents surged to a 15-5 triumph over B52’s, with Grace Johnson delivering an exceptional performance. Rats returned from the break with a solid 7-5 win over Demons, showing resilience and determination.
Round 12 will see Serpents challenge Rats, while Demons will meet B52’s.
Men’s B-grade was action-packed, with Rats delivering a strong 11-2 victory over Demons. B52’s upheld their form, defeating Relics 8-3, though Relics showed promising play throughout most of the game.
Next weekend, Rats will test themselves against the high-flying B52’s, and Relics will face Demons.
In the men’s C-grade, Rats edged out Demons with a close 8-6 win, thanks in part to Myles Crawford’s stand-out performance, contributing two goals and multiple assists.
Looking ahead, B52’s will challenge Demons in men’s C-grade. The women’s C-grade will also return, featuring B52’s versus Demons Black, Serpents Blue in a derby against Green and Rats Black aiming for the top spot as they face Demons Yellow.
