GNFL flexes its muscles
The Great Northern Football League has shown it is still a force to be reckoned with, as both representative sides in action this weekend secured positive results.
Last night’s round 1 match of the Landmark Country Championships saw the GNFL overcome a spirited Avon Football Association side 12.9.81 to 8.9.57 at WA Country Builders Stadium.
Nathaniel Mourambine kicked five goals for the hosts in a lively display, while Kingsley Smith was dynamic off half back as the GNFL withstood a third quarter fightback to record the 24 point win.
Meanwhile, the GNFL Colts have taken out the 2016 Northern Region Colts Carnival after comprehensively defeating the Mortlock Football League in the grand final by 31 points, 7.10.52 to 3.3.21.
