There was a wash of pink across the Geraldton Foreshore yesterday morning, as hundreds donned their favourite pink threads for a good cause.

An estimated 500 people attended the Mother’s Day Classic, to walk or run through the CBD to raise awareness about breast cancer.

Event co-ordinator Melissa Latham said the event, now in its fourth year, aimed to promote breast cancer awareness and raise funds for research against the widespread disease.

“This event is something fun for all the family to get involved in and it’s a great way to start the day,” she said.

“We want to spread the message about breast cancer and raise funds for research to, hopefully, find a cure for it.

“There was been a lot of support for this event in Geraldton and it just keeps growing.”

The amount raised is still being tallied. All funds will go to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
