A pleasant 34 degrees greeted Geraldton’s two junior Country Week cricket teams.

Lyndon Crudeli, who is managing the under-14s team, said it was like the air-conditioning had been turned on after Monday’s 44 degree scorcher in Perth.

Monday’s weather did not slow down the under-14s team as they defeated Busselton-Margaret River Cricket Association.

Geraldton batted first and scored 128, highlighted by Kurt Crudeli’s 36.

They backed up that effort in the field and with the ball behind Hudson Toomey’s spell of 10 overs, claiming four wickets for 16 runs.

Busselton-Margaret River Cricket Association was bowled out for 113.

The under-16s team was defeated by Peel on day one of the five-day carnival after being set the target of 135.

The Geraldton team managed just 79 in reply off 27 overs.
