Martians claimed the Geraldton Softball Association women’s A-grade grand final in a marathon battle, defeating Rams 19-14 on Saturday night.

The premiers claimed the silverware after fighting off a Rams comeback, which pushed the game past the three-hour mark at Utakarra.

Martians shot to a 12-0 lead in the first two digs before Rams dug in to produce a 7-run blitz in the third.

Martians held on despite Rams nipping at their heels in the drawn-out clash that left players and umpires physically drained.

Martians outfielder and second-base minder Kate Forsyth was unshakable in the win, earning herself MVP for the game.

The A-grade men’s final saw Suiside trump Rams 12-7, with the delayed game kicking off at 10pm because of the women’s lengthy match.

The late start didn’t deter the crowd, who were happy to stick around and watch the two sides battle it out for the final honours.

Suiside first-base gun Linc Scott was awarded MVP for his solid performance, which helped shut down Rams’ runners.

The men’s B-grade final was a tighter affair, with Suiside Black trumping Rams White 7-6.

Young up-and-comer Joseph Mazzer was a stand out for Suiside at short stop, leading the charge for his team, who operated as a cohesive unit under coach Storm Jeffries’ guidance.

Rams Blue stormed home to a 14-11 victory over PI’s in the women’s B-grade final.

Both teams held the lead at different points in the game, but Rams forced the errors for PI’s and stormed home with the bat.

Rams outfielder Stephanie McAuliffe was best on ground after providing a reliable glove in the outfield.

The junior final saw Bulldogs Black outclass Rams in a 14-0 battle, with the final score not reflecting the quality of the game.

Bulldogs pitcher Cooper Jeffries put on an impressive display at the mound, with the young firebrand sending throw after throw over the plate.

The 2016-17 Geraldton Softball Association regulation season will start in October this year.
