For some strange reason I never got into the Batman: Arkham series. Something about it just didn’t motivate me enough to finish them, but for what could be the final iteration of Rocksteady’s Batman games, I thought I’d give it another shot.

At first glance, Batman Arkham Knight has never looked better in a video game.

The world is far more expansive and bustling with grimy detail.

Very impressive weather system, and every character looks and acts perfectly to the Batman feel.

One of the biggest changes to Arkham is the Batmobile.

Never has it been fully utilised in an open-world Batman game, and Rocksteady did an incredible job with it.

It looks amazing; it can be controlled remotely, adding an interesting element to puzzle-solving, and smashing through objects and enemies has never been more satisfying and there’s also a nifty little slow-mo explosion when in simple combat.

My only gripe is the strange Tank mode control scheme that has you holding down a button to remain in tank mode, though this can easily be changed in the settings.

The melee has seen a few interesting changes with things like surprise take downs.

At first everything was too easy for me but eventually, more and more enemies with different abilities come into play and it starts to get interesting.

Overall, it seems Rocksteady has really refined this element of gameplay.

Batman: Arkham Knight is a ridiculously impressive game, featuring a lengthy storyline, excellent character delivery and voice acting (featuring Mark Hamill as the Joker) and is a visual feast.

This one is a winner in nearly every aspect.
