As the children settle in to school holidays this week, a number of Geraldton organisations have collaborated to present parents with a jam-packed school holiday program to keep the kids busy.

Among the variety of events on offer are sporting activities, a family fun day, events at the museum and Aquarena, music workshops and chill-out zones.

Partnering on the program is the City of Greater Geraldton, PCYC, Sun City Christian Centre, WA Museum — Geraldton, Child and Parent Centre Rangeway, the Old Geraldton Gaol and the Comedy Emporium.

City of Greater Geraldton Deputy Mayor Neil McIlwaine said he was pleased to be able to offer another great program of events for local families.

“The school holiday program is very popular,” he said.

“We’re happy to be able to offer kids such a varied and exciting array of activities.

“We have had great feedback from both parents and children alike, so we know it’s a hit.

“Providing such a diverse range of activities would not be possible without the co-operation of so many great community organisations and we thank them for their support.”

The Comedy Emporium will present improvised comedy workshops for children, while the PCYC will offer everything from circus fun, sports days and even a birthday party to enjoy.

The WA Museum — Geraldton will hold a range of maritime-themed activities, from discovering how sailors of the 17th century found their way across the ocean to exploring the scents, colours and textures of the spices they traded.

The City will host a range of sporting activities, such as three-on-three basketball, five-a-side soccer and beach volleyball, while the Sun City Christian Centre will offer dodgeball, art and chill-out days plus Ultimate Frisbee.

The Rangeway Child and Parent Centre will cater for smaller children with Mini Maestro music sessions, a family fun day and yoga for children.
