Police have released the name of a Beresford man who died when two vans crashed south of Dongara on Saturday.

He was 26-year-old Epeli Katonivere Burewe.

Police said Mr Burewe was a passenger in a Ford Transit van, and not wearing a seatbelt, when the van and a Toyota Tarago collided about 3.45pm at Arrowsmith.

Major Crash investigators are calling for witnesses.

Police said a silver Tarago was travelling south on the Brand Highway when it veered on to the wrong side of the road, narrowly missing a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction.

"The Tarago has continued on the incorrect side of the road over a slight crest where it has then collided head on with a Ford Transit van," the spokesman said.

A 29-year-old male passenger in the Tarago received serious head injuries.

A 60-year-old male passenger in the Transit van received fractures and injuries to his arm.

Anyone who saw the crash, or the vehicles prior to the crash is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
