With the fundraising goal set a little higher this year, the Relay For Life Mid West is confident they’re on the right track to hitting bullseye on the target.

For the 2015 race, the relay committee has set a whopping goal of $160,000

With little more than 80 days to kick-off, the total sits around $57,189.85

But with more fundraisers lined up, Relay For Life Mid West committee member Christine Driscoll said she was confident teams were on track.

“It is a very achievable goal. I believe our incredible teams here in the Mid West can do it, ” she said.

“It’s set a little higher than in 2014, but we have 11 more teams registered and $15,000 more already banked than this time last year.

“Some of the teams have some very exciting events coming up . . . and some are starting to wind up their fundraising.

“I know from my experience how much effort, organising and time goes into each fundraiser and our teams have been doing an unbelievable job.”

The annual event will be held on October 24 and 25 at GBSC Sports Park.

Teams have been well underway in fundraising since early in the year, with Ladies and Tradies leading with a massive $13,532 in the piggy bank.

Mrs Driscoll said jumping on board would give you more than just a challenge to raise the most.

“Competition between the teams is always a good thing; though the support you also see them giving to each other is more inspiring, ” she said.

“Team registrations and participants numbers are up, but there are still a lot teams that aren’t full. This is the time to get all team members registered.

“You can do that or register your own team.

“But there is a staggered increase in registration fees this year, so the later you join, the more the registration is and the less time you have to fundraise.”

If you’re more interested in lending a hand, the committee is looking for volunteers.

“We will be kicking off our search for volunteers as soon as there are a variety of jobs we need assistance with over the Relay For Life Mid West weekend, ” Mrs Driscoll said. She can be contacted on 0419 750 717.
