A 38-year-old Geraldton man who allegedly wielded a knife at police will face Geraldton Magistrate’s Court today.

Police allege the man was not wearing a helmet while riding a black scooter along Drew Street, Spalding at 12:51pm on Wednesday.

He allegedly made a hand gesture to officers and sped off through the industrial area.

At Nichols Street there was a confrontation with police after he allegedly removed a 20cm knife from the seat of his scooter and dismounted the vehicle, allowing it to drive head-on into a police car at low speed causing minor damage to the front passenger door.

The man dropped the knife at the request of police and was subsequently arrested.

He has been charged with no authority to drive, possessing an article with intent to cause fear and driving a motorcycle without wearing a protective helmet.
