Rigter’s Supermarkets were able to raise $10,000 for Activ Foundation through this year’s City to Surf series.

The Geraldton leg of the fundraising run was held on July 31, with the Perth run marking the end of the Statewide series on August 28.

This year’s Rigter’s team brought more than 200 people to the Geraldton event, and their donation will raise the Rigter’s City to Surf team contributions to Activ over the $20,000 mark.

Team leader and group operations manager Stuart Bain said the race held a special place in his heart.

“The Chevron City to Surf for Activ is a fantastic community event that also supports a really important cause in the Activ Foundation,” he said.

“We are a close-knit team here at the Rigters Group and wanted to take part in the challenge together, while also making a difference.

“We are thrilled to be able to support Activ and it’s fantastic to know that the money we raise will make a real, life-changing difference to people living with disability, not only in Geraldton, but across the State.”

Activ Geraldton provides accommodation and employment to 90 people living with a disability in the local community, and the organisation supports more than 2000 people Statewide.

Activ chief executive Danielle Newport said generous donations like this enabled them to continue providing ongoing support to people living with a disability.

“We are so grateful for their support and commitment over the past two years and look forward to seeing them at the Chevron City to Surf for Activ again in 2017,” she said.
