TAFE appointments raise Geraldton hopes

Sebastian NeuweilerGeraldton Guardian

The future of Geraldton’s Durack Institute of Technology may be clearer as the State Government announces the new Governing Council and interim managing director of the soon-to-be Central Regional TAFE.

From April 11 technical and further education colleges in the Mid West, Gascoyne, Wheatbelt and Goldfields will be amalgamated, with the number of administering colleges to be reduced to one.

While it is yet to be confirmed where this college will be housed, the announcement made this morning points towards Geraldton.

Mary Woodford and Bill Swetman will take the reins as Governing Council chairwoman and interim managing director of the Central Regional TAFE, respectively.

These are the roles currently held by Ms Woodford and Mr Swetman at the Durack Institute of Technology.
