Trio on burglary and stealing charges
Three men have been charged with aggravated burglary and stealing after they were caught following a police manhunt in Greenough on Sunday.
The men, aged 25, 23 and 21, were allegedly stealing copper wire from a disused building site and fled once police arrived on the scene about 2pm.
The first male was apprehended by police on arrival, while the other two were believed to be hiding in nearby bushland.
Police cordoned off the area and used Police Dog “Bucky” to track the remaining alleged offenders, who complied with the officers once they were located.
All three were arrested and brought back to Geraldton Police Station, where they were charged with aggravated burglary and stealing.
The 25-year-old man from Karloo was remanded in custody as he was already on bail for similar offences, while the 23-year-old Waggrakine man and 21-year-old Northam man were released and will appear at Geraldton Magistrate’s Court at a later date.
