Geraldton police charge boys and girls for allegedly using rocks to smash their way into Quiet Life Cafe

Geraldton police have charged two girls and two boys — some as young as 11 — with burglary and stealing after rocks were used to smash the windows of the popular Quiet Life Cafe at the weekend. Police allege at 4.40pm on Saturday, August 26 four juveniles — two girls and two boys — attempted to enter the Marine Terrace cafe. Officer-in-charge Sen. Sgt Chris Martin said the accused group attempted to jump over the back fence but failed. He alleged they retreated back to the front of the cafe where they smashed the side windows with large rocks from the gravel car park. “The group has smashed the window panels of the entrance door, they successfully managed to knock a full glass panel out and started reaching through and tried to unlock the door,” he said. Sen. Sgt Martin said the group failed to unlock the door and one allegedly climbed through the broken window pane and gained access. “When inside they attempt to access the register which was empty,” he said. All four juveniles, two boys aged 11 and two girls aged 17, were arrested shortly after and charged with burglary and stealing. They were released on bail and are due to appear in Geraldton Children’s Court on Tuesday, September 12.
