Paige Carslake earns call-up to represent WA on international soccer stage
Geraldton and the Mid West have a rich seam of young talented sportspeople and one of those hard-working youths is Paige Carslake, who currently plays for Abrolhos FC Soccer Club.
Carslake’s hard work and dedication to her club and her sport have led to her being selected for the Goldfields WA representative team travelling to the SingaCup.
This is a huge achievement and Carslake is only one of two students in the Mid West having been selected this year.
She has been playing since the age of two, having started as a toddler while her family lived out in Tom Price.
Since that early age, she has managed to rack up some significant achievements and milestones.
She recently played for the WA regional team in 2021 participating in a tournament in Perth.
Carslake is currently in the School Sport WA U-18 squad as a train-on player, learning her craft from experienced coaches and other players.
She competed against 90 girls and got down to the last 24 and although she was not selected in this team it was a great achievement and, in these uncertain times, she could still very well get the call-up to go to that tournament this September in NSW.
She was picked for the SingaCup from country camp and a TSP tournament that was held in the last school holidays in Perth.
To go to country camp she was selected from Country Week last year and in essence, the camp is for the best of the best, a bit like Soccer Top Gun.
SingaCup is Asia’s premier international youth football tournament and is held in Singapore from November 9 to 14 this year.
