Shire of Mingenew chief executive Nils Hay tenders resignation

After almost four years in the role, the head of the Shire of Mingenew is stepping down.

The Shire on Monday announced Nils Hay had tendered his resignation and would be ending his time as chief executive on June 17.

Mr Hay said he would look back on his time with the Mid West local government with gratitude and pride.

“I am incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to serve as CEO of the Shire of Mingenew, proud of the team that I have built, and I feel personally invested in many of the projects that I have been working on over the last four years — and the community in general,” he said.

“I am also incredibly thankful for the support that I have enjoyed from the Shire president and councillors throughout my tenure. Not every CEO has such a positive working relationship with their Council, and I consider myself lucky in that respect.”

Shire president Gary Cosgrove thanked Mr Hay for his contributions to the community.

“Nils has led the organisation well through some challenging events, brought in significant grant funding, and implemented a range of positive changes to the management of the organisation during his time,” he said.

“Nils has also demonstrated that this role is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about the growth and development of regional communities and, as we wish him the best in his future endeavours, we also look forward to offering someone new the chance to help take Mingenew even further.”

The council will now start the recruitment process for a new chief executive.
