A jury at the Geraldton District Court has found a 68-year-old man guilty of historic child sex offences.

Richard John Dalgetty was convicted on five counts of unlawfully and indecently dealing with a child under 14 years old, some time between 1980 and 1982.

Defence counsellor Tony Hager requested Dalgetty undergo a psychological report before the court proceeded to sentence him, to which Judge Vicki Stewart agreed.

Dalgetty was remanded in custody to face sentencing in the Perth District Court on March 1, where he will appear by video-link.
