UPDATED December 31. A 32-year-old Geraldton man remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition, after allegedly being stabbed multiple times at a Johnston Street residence.

The man was flown by Royal Flying Doctor Service to Royal Perth Hospital for surgery with a number of serious injuries.

Jeremy David Black, 35, was charged with intending to commit grievous bodily harm over the December 22 incident.

He appeared in Geraldton Magistrate’s Court on December 26 and was not required to enter a plea.

He was remanded in custody until January 9.

A RPH spokesperson said the injured man had lost a lot of blood and had serious lung injuries.

Meanwhile, emergency services in Geraldton and the RFDS were reported to have done an “amazing job” on the night.

“The man would have died immediately without the quick and expert attention he received,” a witness who asked not to be named said.
