A two-storey townhouse in Bluff Point has suffered extensive damage after it caught fire in the early hours of Sunday November 15.

The occupants of the Crowtherton Street property were inside the house when the alarm was raised, but were able to escape the premises without injury.

Thirteen career and volunteer Geraldton firefighters attended the scene for two hours and were able to control the fire before it caused any damage to neighbouring properties.

Station officer Tony Keeping said it was important for home-owners to be vigilant about fire safety.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated, but at this stage is thought to be accidental.
