Bumper crowd soak up the fun and frivolity of festivals

Festivals on the Foreshore opened in spectacular style in the magical Spiegeltent with local member Ian Blayney declaring the festival launched on behalf of Terry Redman MLA.

The official launch party pushed the boundaries and kicked off the festival for the nine-day event.

Saturday saw a market day, Junkadelic band workshops, Twin River Guards, a Geraldton first with Vibe Nightclub hosting an underage youth event in their carpark and the Rockabilly night had people partying into the night.

The Moonlight Pleasure garden was also open for the public to mingle.

Sunday had the main Sunshine Festival activities with the annual Illuka Resources float parade and the Toll Truck pull.

Lets Party’s Frozen-themed float, caught the judges eye, taking home best commercial float, Woorree BMX took home most entertaining, best recycled was Men Shed Midwest and non-for-profit was St John Ambulance and best effort was Batavia Marching Band.

All winners received a cheque for $500.

Kite Kinetics and GerMANIC Oktoberfest were also a hit with the crowd.

Festivities don’t end there with another six days of entertainment on its way.

Festivals on the Foreshore concludes this Saturday, with The Set list — I Know Leopard supported by The Inks and Carfax.
