Six charged in major drug sting

Police have seized 75 mature cannabis plants and charged six people after a series of drug raids across Geraldton this week.

The plants, along with a hydroponic set-up, 1.7 litres of hash oil and other forms of cannabis were discovered when police raided a rural property in Dolby Drive, Waggrakine, about 6.25am yesterday.

A 37-year-old Waggrakine woman has been charged with six counts of possessing a prohibited drug, three counts of possessing a prohibited drug with intent to sell or supply, one count of cultivating a prohibited plant with intent to sell or supply and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police executed search warrants on five properties and allegedly seized a “large” amount of stolen property, a sword, machete, crystal substance, cannabis and drug paraphernalia.

Other raids were carried out at 6.15am on Tuesday at a property in Scott Road, Rangeway, noon on Tuesday in Abelia Street, Rangeway, 6.10am on Wednesday in Hammond Street, Spalding, and at 8.30am today in Zimmri Street, Rangeway.

Others charged were:

A 24-year-old Rangeway woman, charged with possessing a prohibited drug and drug paraphernalia.

A 27-year-old Rangeway man, charged with possessing a prohibited drug.

A 32-year-old Mullewa man, charged with possessing drug paraphernalia.

A 48-year-old Spalding man, charged with two counts of possessing stolen property.

And a 41-year-old Spalding woman, charged with possessing a prohibited drug.

They will all appear before Geraldton Magistrate's Court at a later date.
