Police are investigating a suspicious fire at an abandoned Northbridge building.

Firefighters were called to the building on the corner of William and Aberdeen streets about 7.25pm on Wednesday.

The building was once home to AIDA Cafe Restaurant Club — a late-night shisha bar, restaurant and nightclub.

It has been reported squatters were inside the building at the time. No one was hurt.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services worked to douse the fire, which caused significant damage.

Arson squad officers will attend the scene on Thursday to determine the cause of the fire.

Anyone with CCTV or dash-cam of the area between 5pm and 7.30pm is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Rewards of up to $25,000 are available for information that leads to the identification and conviction of an arsonist.
