A surprising detail about the lifestyle of residents in Perth’s wealthiest suburbs has been uncovered by new research.

Research conducted by Reckon discovered that people in the western suburbs’ Golden Triangle earn their eye-watering incomes by only working part-time.

Part-time work is defined as those who usually work less than 35 hours a week.

Peppermint Grove, Mosman Park, Nedlands and Cottesloe respectively led the top 10 list of part-time work hotspots in Perth.

According to the data, more than 40 per cent of residents living in Peppermint Grove — Perth’s most exclusive and expensive suburb — work part-time.

Mosman Park followed closely behind with 39 per cent of residents, Nedlands with 38.8 per cent and Cottesloe with 37.6 per cent.

In the rest of the State, 32 per cent of West Aussies are working less than 35 hours each week, with Denmark revealed to be the suburb home to the most part-time workers in WA.

The new data comes a week after it was announced residents in Peppermint Grove are in line to get their very own celebration, named Peppermint Grove Day.

In a move clearly aimed at relieving Change The Date pressure on the Local Government, the Shire of Peppermint Grove is contemplating a biennial community celebration in place of its Australia Day activities.

The new event would to be held every second year on October 4 in a nod to the date that the Shire was originally gazetted in 1895 as the Peppermint Grove Roads Board.
