Annie Melanie Lucas, 62, extradited from the UK for allegedly stealing $1.6m from Port Kennedy business

A former administration assistant who was extradited from the UK for allegedly stealing $1.6 million from a contracting business she worked for in Port Kennedy has appeared in court. Annie Melanie Lucas was charged with 103 stealing offences after an extensive investigation by financial crime squad detectives. The 62-year-old appeared in Northbridge Magistrates Court on Saturday. Police have alleged that between July 2007 and May 2013, Ms Lucas deposited a number of business cheques into her personal account while in a position of trust as an employee at the contracting firm. It has also been alleged that she deposited the money directly into her personal bank account and used it to pay personal bills and services. Ms Lucas was remanded in custody and is expected to appear in court again next week.
