20-year-old man dies of injuries after car veers into tree travelling on Indian Ocean Drive in Green Head

A 20-year-old man has died in a crash on Indian Ocean Drive in Green Head when his vehicle left the road and collided with a tree on Friday morning — the third serious crash on the notorious stretch of road in the past week. Major crash officers are investigating the fatal crash that occurred about 9.15am on Indian Ocean Drive near Cemetery Road in Green Head. A 20-year-old man driving a white Ford Falcon was heading north when the vehicle left the road and collided with a tree. The man died from his injuries at the scene. The fatality follows as an Italian backpacker on his way to his own farewell party died in a car crash on the same road on Friday, June 2. Jacopo Martini and three others were on their way to a friend’s house in Lancelin to celebrate and say their goodbyes before flying to Bali the following morning for a holiday and then home to Italy.
