Geraldton schools band together to hold Batavia Games with country week cancelled due to lockdown
A version of school country week will go ahead in Geraldton, with four local schools holding the first ever Batavia Games after the metro carnival was cancelled because of COVID-19 restrictions.
Geraldton Christian College will host the event on Thursday.
The college said The carnival had been organised by late Monday following the news of the cancellation.
“Mindful of the time students and staff had spent training for the carnival, and that for Year 12 students it would be their last opportunity to compete, leaders from Champion Bay Senior High School, Geraldton Christian College, Geraldton Grammar School, and Geraldton Senior High School pulled out all stops,” the college said.
The day will feature touch rugby, basketball, volleyball, netball, dance and soccer with the best school presented with the Batavia Games Cup.
