A crowd of more that 2000 showed up and dressed to impress for the annual Geraldton Turf Club Ladies Day.

On the track it was all trainer, Michael Grantham winning a staggering 4 out of 5 races. Teaming up with jockey of the day, Joey Azzopardi, the pair claimed the main race of the day — the Ladies Day Sprint with gelding, First Beach.

The track was in great condition with over two thousand in attendance, the crowd were treated to a great day of racing thanks to the Turf Club.

Trainer, Michael Grantham, said the track was in great shape to host such a great event.

“The track here is absolutely sensational, the coverage and the work that the staff do here is unreal” he said.

Grantham said he was happy with the event despite missing out on race two with his horse of the day, Mythical Dream.

“We brought a team of six, two being in the same race and one just missing out in race two which I thought was my best horse coming into today” he said.

Grantham said it takes the best of an entire team to come up against the Geraldton locals.

“The Geraldton form are very strong, you really have to be hard and fit.”

“You can just come for a walk in the park and expect to win” he said.

One of the locals that impressed, pipping Grantham’s Mythical Dreaming, was local horse, Forbidden Apple, ridden by Tash Faithfull and trained by Sean Rains.

A stellar turnout at Fashions on the Fields this year had spectators turning heads off the track, too. With more than 24 entrants, it was tough choosing the winners.

In the end, best dressed winner went to Tessa Daly, who took home a $500 Mitchel and Brown Retravision gift voucher, a bottle of campaign and a bouquet of flowers.

Runner up best dressed went to Jaymee Pattrick, second runner up went to Carlee Edwards and Lorelei Eastough earnt the best millinery on her first walk on the stage.

Each received a $250 Mitchell and Brown voucher, champaign and flowers.
