Mother has safety concerns after vehicle drives through Turtle Cove Early Learning Centre fence into play area

A shocked mother has raised safety concerns after a vehicle drove through a fence and into the playground area of a daycare centre in Wandina on Friday. Just after 8am on Friday morning, a green Toyota Corolla parked in the carpark of the Turtle Cove Early Learning Centre in Wandina accelerated and drove through the brick fencing. The vehicle drove into the outdoor playground area before coming to a stop. A mother of one of the children, who wishes to remain anonymous, said she hoped the centre would install safety bollards to avoid an incident like this in the future. Turtle Cove Early Learning Centre managing director Andrew Horstman confirmed no children were utilising the outdoor area at the time of the incident. “Our first priority has been to ensure that the family involved, our attending children and staff were unharmed and safe. All families who utilise our service have been informed of the incident with reassurance that no one was harmed,” he said. “I commend the staff on their fast action to ensure the safety of all involved. “Works have been under way to repair the damage that the incident caused and the outdoor yard is once again secure.”
