Perth man dies in Brand Highway crash south east of Cervantes
A 20-year-old Perth man died in a single vehicle crash in Cataby on Saturday afternoon, while the 20-year-old female driver was airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment.
Emergency services rushed to the scene of the crash on Brand Highway, about 80km south east of Cervantes, just after 1.50pm after a white Mazda 3 left the road and hit an embankment.
Stirling resident Ruben Sassine, a passenger in the vehicle, died at the scene.
Friend Mark Youssef paid tribute to the 20-year-old online.
“So proud of the man you were becoming, so glad we had some great memories together, including art classes,” he said.
“I could see you being a rockstar at anything you put your hands to.
“Your YouTube vids were a class above the rest for all of us who watched.”
Major Crash are investigating and are appealing for any witnesses to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Dash-cam vision can be uploaded directly to investigators online.
Major Crash are also investigating a fatal crash in Muchea involving a 20-year-old man riding an off-road motorcycle who struck a fence on a cycle path adjacent to Tonkin Highway.
The rider crashed at about 2.50am on Sunday and died at the scene from his injuries.
