Welcome back to Snap and Chat, the Geraldton Guardian’s weekly segment which showcases the amazing photography skills we have in the region and the incredibly photogenic location we are so blessed to reside in.

Each week, we platform the top comments from some of our top performing stories and this week it includes our story about the contentious Marine Rescue Base at Point Moore which is at risk of destruction due to encroaching tides.

“Doing nothing is doing something! A few strategically placed sand sausages would enable a buffer to build between storms,” posted Howard Grey.

The tragic loss of Alexx Wright, a Greenhead-based teenager who was killed after they were hit by a car on Indian Ocean Drive, saw an outpouring of tributes for the 19-year-old.

Tracey McGuire commented: “You will be greatly missed, love us”.

Talking points were raised on a post about a meteorological mast which will be erected in the Shire of Dandaragan to help determine the most suitable location for a future wind farm following council approval.

Armuni Sam Schzamm commented: “Short lived and not recyclable ... still uses generator with diesel and oil in the hydraulics. Plus already five sites going between Perth and Geraldton already what an eye sore”.

This week’s chosen image is a photo from Max Johnson taken on May 25. It’s a reminder of how many silver linings there are to the wet weather.

Geraldton has made its way through autumn relatively unscathed, so a rainbow over the HMAS Sydney II memorial was a sight for sore eyes in late May.
