Regional healthcare and local projects to benefit from latest Liberal cash splash across Warren-Blackwood

Community projects and hospital upgrades were among the recent list of WA Liberals funding commitments pledged to the Warren-Blackwood region. Warren-Blackwood Liberal candidate Wade De Campo announced more than $5 million in re-election commitments to the Bridgetown Hospital, Warren Health Service, and several community projects in Boyup Brook on February 9 and 10. Mr De Campo said the $2.5 million investment towards the purchase of a CT scanner at Manjimup Hospital would “significantly reduce the strain” on Bunbury Hospital, and “improve the overall healthcare delivery” for the people of Warren-Blackwood. “CT scanners are an essential tool in diagnosing strokes and other medical conditions,” he said. “They also help ensure faster medical decisions, allowing patients to be transferred directly to the appropriate teaching hospital if required. “CT scanners can also generate revenue through the 19-2 funding model which means this investment will not only improve healthcare services but also create a sustainable and financially viable addition to the region’s health infrastructure.” A $1.8 million commitment was also announced for the Bridgetown Hospital for roof replacement. “The Liberal Party is committed to ensuring that our hospitals are safe, functional, and ready to meet the needs of our growing communities — and the need for reliable health care infrastructure has never been greater,” Mr De Campo said. Boyup Brook will also significantly benefit from the recent announcement with $150,000 pledged to the redevelopment of Sandakan Park, $500,000 committed to upgrading facilities at the Boyup Brook dual-use Evacuation and Recreation Centre, and $120,000 will be allocated to repurposing unused water in the Reservoir Dam Pipeline Project to beautify the Boyup Brook town centre and recreation areas. Mr De Campo said these projects are about backing small communities and ensuring they have the facilities, infrastructure, and resources they need to thrive. Liberal leader Libby Mettam said she backs Mr De Campo’s “local, common-sense approach” to delivering for Boyup Brook and his vision for the Warren-Blackwood region. “Nobody understands the needs of this region better than Wade De Campo,” she said. “Our Building a Better Future blueprint makes it clear we will back regional WA and deliver the sort of services regional West Australians deserve.”
