Payne Park goes purple with more than 400 participants putting in the laps for Relay for Life Socials
More than 400 participants took on the gruelling 24 hour Relay for Life Bunbury event in Payne Park on the weekend, raising north of $185,000 for cancer treatment and care.
While usually home to the yellow and black Bunbury Football Club, the oval was instead awash with purple as participants from more than 41 teams racked up their laps.
This year’s event was Olympics themed with a number of activities including a decathlon and equestrian lap, with many teams flaunting themed wear.
There was also a rather special donation with Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson – a cancer survivor herself – pledging to donate after hearing about the charity drive while in town for a book signing event.
