Much-loved Sunrise star Nat Barr is ready to go for yet another Telethon — and she means business.

Touching down in Perth yesterday, Bunbury-raised Barr, 56, said she’d taken the opportunity on her trip over to educate flight crew about the marathon fundraiser that’s captured WA’s hearts and minds for more than half a century.

“It just gives you a lump in your throat to know that for all these years, Perth does it bigger and better than anywhere in this country,” she said.

It’s set to be a weekend of joy, generosity and laughter at RAC Arena, but Barr said when it comes down to bringing in those donation dollars, she and her fellow TV colleagues mean business.

“From the moment you get off the plane, you’re all in and you’re there to have fun, but you’re also there to work,” she said.

“You’re there to raise money for so many wonderful charities.”

Barr is well and truly a bona fide Telethon veteran, evidenced by the fact she’s lost count of the number of Telethons she’s attended.

“I should have started counting how many. That was my problem. I never started and it’s just been ages,” she said.

With her Sunrise co-host Matt Shirvington by her side, the pair are ready to give their all for the 26-hour broadcast as WA aims to surpass last year’s $77.5 million record.

“We’re fine as long we don’t lie down. Don’t put us on the couch in a horizontal position,” Barr said earlier this month.

Telethon’s 26-hour fundraising extravaganza kicks off at 7pm at RAC Arena and will be broadcast live on Channel 7 and 7-plus.
