Bird warning on grain route
The City of Greater Geraldton is warning residents to be careful on the roads, as native bird numbers increase along Geraldton Mount Magnet road.
The Southern Transport Corridor is seeing increasing traffic from hungry birds following grain transports.
The City received the warning from airport staff who noted an increasing number of birds, mostly corellas, flying through the area.
No cars or drivers have been harmed, but the increasing number of bird carcasses could attract further wildlife such as foxes and cats.
Motorists are encouraged to exercise caution on the road and contact a local veterinarian if they see an injured animal.
