Driver arrested over axe handle discovery
An axe handle kept in a driver’s Hyundai Elantra was allegedly in the vehicle because of threats he had received earlier.
Police say they located it in the centre console after conducting a vehicle stop about 2.50am today near the intersection of Second Street and Flores Road, Wonthella.
They also searched the two occupants and found an amount of crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine.
A 33-year-old Spalding man will appear in the Geraldton Magistrate’s Court at a later date charged with carrying or possessing a weapon with intent to cause fear.
A 22-year-old Spalding woman will also appear in the Magistrate’s Court charged with possessing a prohibited drug.
